Conference on Encyclical Laudato Si by Cardinal Peter Turkson in Fresno

A Conference on the Encyclical Laudato Si : Care for our Home, was facilitated by Cardinal Peter Turkson held at the Holy Spirit Church in Fresno at 7 p.m. on February 20, 2017.

Cardinal Turkson is the Prefect of the Dicastery for the Promotion of Integral Human Development in Vatican. He summarized the basic content of the Encyclical into 7 C’s: continuity, collegiality, conversation, care, citizenship, conversion, and contemplation. These seven elements are main arguments that can be found in the recent encyclical of Pope Francis I which tackles about our common concern and care for the earth that came out in May 24, 2015. Cardinal Turkson was one among those who helped Pope Francis prepare and write the said encyclical.

Fr. Edwin Manio and Fr. John Bruno attended the said conference and about 20 parishioners from St. Mary’s Church. The conference was attended by parishioners from different parishes of the Diocese of Fresno. Before the conference, a light dinner was served to the clergy and to have a personal time and dialogue with Cardinal from Ghana.
