Postulants: One-month missionary immersion in the slums of Manila
The Postulants of St. Matthew Province were sent on their apostolic immersion during the Eucharistic celebration at the St. Hannibal Rogate Center on February 15, 2022. This is the second of the three phases of the postulancy program.

In his homily, Fr. Aljohn Provido RCJ, formator of the postulants, explained that this month-long immersion in selected poor areas of Pasay and Tondo in the Archdiocese of Manila is meant to develop in them the sentiments of Christ of Rogate who saw the crowd like sheep without a shepherd, similar to the experience of St. Hannibal, our founder, when he went to the Avignone district of Messina. The command of the Rogate was provoked by such experience. He also emphasized that St. Hannibal considered the poor who lived in the shantytowns of Avignone to be the "first Rogationists" who prayed fervently for shepherds, according to the Heart of Christ. In the same way, immersion aims to develop an existential experience of the material and spiritual needs of the poor, to learn from the poor how to pray because the Lord hears the cry of the poor, to pray with the poor and like the poor to the Lord of the harvest to send workers to his harvest, and to be ready to be good workers themselves in the vineyard of God.

During this period of missionary experience, the Postulants will be accompanied by the Confreres of the community of the St. Hannibal Empowerment Center (SHEC) in Pasay.
