Sideia Mission Center celebrates the canonization of St. Peter To Rot!
(October 17) The World Mission Sunday marked by prayer and community spirit, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Parish celebrated the canonization of St. Peter To Rot. They honored his enduring legacy through a series of meaningful events.
The day began before dawn with a solemn Dawn Rosary pilgrimage to the statue of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, led by parishioners from different institutions. This collective act of devotion set a reverent atmosphere for the following festivities.
At 7:30 a.m., community members gathered for video presentations that illuminated the life, witness, and martyrdom of St. Peter To Rot. The presentations recounted his commitment to faith and family and provided updates on his canonization, deepening the congregation's appreciation for his simple yet profound legacy.
The highlight of the celebration was the Holy Mass, offered in thanksgiving for St. Peter To Rot’s holiness. During the liturgy, fifteen children were baptized, and nine couples celebrated their enduring love by renewing their marriage vows after being together for over twenty years. The renewal ceremony was particularly moving as the couples reaffirmed their commitment to one another in the presence of God and their community.
After Mass, a brief program included speeches, songs, and an entertaining quiz in honor of the saint. Father JR presented certificates and rosaries to the catechists and the couples who renewed their vows to acknowledge their steadfast commitment to the sacrament of marriage.
At noon, the community gathered in the wind house for a festive kai-kai. As they shared a meal, couples shared stories about their married lives, inspiring younger couples to embrace the sacrament of marriage and the grace of the Holy Eucharist. Inspired by St. Peter To Rot's example, their stories served as a reminder of the beauty and strength found in faith-filled relationships.
In the end, the parish priest expressed heartfelt gratitude to all who contributed to the day’s success. He described the celebration as memorable and deeply inspiring, reflecting the spirit of St. Peter To Rot—a man of courage, conviction, and love.
