On Nov. 23, 2024, the St. Matthew Province marked opening of the Second Year of Triennium of Preparation for the 50th annivesary of the Rogationist mission in the Philippines, with the theme Bukas-Palad (Open Hands = charity), held at the Rogationist College Cavite. The day began bright and early with a motorcade that started at the Acienda Mall and ended at the school campus. This was followed by breakfast to ensure physical preparation, and a short break to compose oneself and focus on the continuation of the program.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony that was performed over by Fr. Wesley Taguibao, School Rector, and Fr. Jessie Martirizar, RCJ, Councilor on the Sector on the Rogate of Rogationist St. Matthew Province, marked the opening of the exhibit, where the displayed artworks reflected the theme, “Bukas-Palad: Grace of Charity and Care for Nature”. Afterward, the attendees prepared for the Holy Mass, which was presided by Most Rev. Reynaldo Evangelista, Bishop of Imus.
Following the Mass, a special message was delivered by Fr. Orville Cajigal, Provincial Superior of St. Matthew Province. This was followed by a talk on charity and care for nature inspired by the teachings of St. Hannibal, presented by Fr. Ronaldo Masilang. The afternoon featured engaging talks on Pope Francis' Laudato Si by Fr. Samuel Agcaracar SVD and Fr. Teofilo Perey SVD, who shared valuable insights on caring for creation.
Performances from students across various departments infused the program with energy and enthusiasm. In the afternoon, the event culminated in an awarding ceremony that honored the winners of canvas and digital painting and Christmas decor making contests.
As the event came to a close, an open forum was held where participants shared their reflections and ideas on living out the values of charity and environmental stewardship. The ceremony highlighted the artistic talents of the students and their contributions to the celebration of charity and care for nature. Fr. Vincent Dumdum, Superior of the St. Anthony’s Boys Vilalge., delivered the closing remarks, and Fr. Taguibao, offered the final blessing, sending the participants off with renewed inspiration and purpose.
Bukas-Palad reminded everyone of the power of opening our hands and hearts to serve the world with love and care.
