Mons. Guillermo Afable, Bishop of Digos, elevated the Catholic community of St. John Paul II Quasi-Parish in Inawayan, Santa Cruz, Davao del Sur, to the status of a parish. The pastoral care of the faithful here has been entrusted to the Rogationists since 2017.
On 19 October, during the Holy Mass for the canonical erection of the parish, presided over by the local bishop, Fr Julius Descartin, RCJ, was installed as the first parish priest.
A groundbreaking ceremony for the new parish church was held in conjunction with this event. This marks the beginning of the construction of a permanent, larger home for the growing community. This symbolizes the community's deep hope and commitment to establishing a lasting place of prayer and worship.
