7 New Rogationist Priests

Seven Rogationist deacons were ordained priests by Bishop Elmer Jose Mangalinao of Bayongbong on October 20, 2018 at the Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Parish in Paranaque. The new priests come from Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam. They are Fr. Jobert Belgica, Fr. Giovanni Gamaya, Fr. Peter Hoang Van Dong, Fr. Joseph Hoang Xuan Huong, Fr. Joseph Nguyen Truong Thinh, Fr. Joseph Phan Hoang Nguyen and Fr. Ferdinandus Heldi Tanga.

In his homily, Bishop Mangalinao stressed three points to the new priests: 1. Priesthood is first of all not a matter of ability, but of availability 2. Priesthood is not what one can do, but what God can do through his priest; 3. Priesthood is not about position, but about disposition.

The ordination was an event at the conclusion of the 2ndProvincial Chapter of the the Rogationist St. Matthew Province, thus, almost all the capitulars were present. With other diocesan and religious clergy from the Philippines and abroad, around 80 priests concelebrated.

Fr. Rampazzo, the Rogationist Superior General, commented in his message that this occasion is a sign of blessing from the Lord at the start of the journey of the new Provincial leadership under Fr. Orville Cajigal, the new Provincial Superior, who gave his message at the end the celebration.

Papal Blessing parchments were given to the new priests and Certificates of Appreciation were given to the parents of the new priests.

A good number of parents, relatives and friends came from Vietnam and Indonesia, as well as from the Province of Bicol and Bohol in the Philippines. The reception was held at the Fr. Di Francia Center of Studies (Theologate) in the nearby location.

In the evening, in the Mass of the World Mission Sunday, the seven new priests celebrated their first Mass of Thanksgiving in the same Parish. Reception followed at the Fr. Hannibal Formation Center (Philosophy College).

On Sunday, the new priests celebrated a Thanksgiving Mass in the parishes where they serve every weekend for their pastoral exposure.

The new priests will celebrate a Thanksgiving Mass in their respective parishes in their hometown in different dates in October to December.
