Happy Lunar New Year 2017

The Vietnamese Rogationist confreres join other Asian students studying Theology at Don Bosco Center of Studies in Paranaque in the celebration of the Annual Lunar New Year on January 28, 2017. Many countries in East Asia, namely: China, Taiwan, Korea, Vietnam and Singapore celebrate the Lunar New Year, which is considered as the most important event in the yearly calendar. After the celebration of the Liturgical Proper of the Celebration of “Tet”, the professors and students shared the New Year banquet which consisted in special traditional foods. They also had a cultural presentation, the traditional lighting of fire crackers, and the distribution of the “lucky money”.

Meanwhile, the Vietnamese confreres and students in Vietnam celebrate this very important traditional gathering with their family in their respective hometown to pay homage to the ancestors. This most significant date is preluded by the biggest annual human exodus when hundreds of million people in Asia travel back to their villages to gather as a family.

Best wishes to everyone of a Happy Lunar New Year 2017 which is the Year of the Rooster.
