After 40 years of apostolic presence and service in the Philippines, the Rogationists finally found home in Bicol. Upon invitation of the former Bishop of Daet, and now Archbishop of Lipa, Most Rev. Gilbert Garcera, DD, Fr. Herman Abcede, with the approval of the General Superior, promptly responded to the urgent need for a priest in the above-mentioned local church. On May 28, 2017, Fr. Julius Descartin was welcomed by the Quasi Parish of the Holy Family in Talobatib, Labo, Camarines Norte, as its new Administrator. In the Holy Mass in celebration of the Feast of the Ascension, presided over by the outgoing Parish Priest, Fr. Angelito De Torres, the faithful were reminded in the homily that Jesus never left the Church orphaned when He was lifted up to heaven. He explained how, through His priests, He continuously looks after His Church - and at this very day, this local community is welcoming a new one. Some moments, after the Eucharistic gathering, the Administrator of Diocese of Daet, Rev. Fr. Ronald Anthony Timoner, facilitated the Official Turn Over of Office as Administrator of the Quasi Parish to Fr. Descartin, handing over to him the recently inspected documents, in the presence of the Parish Pastoral Council and the other leaders of the chapels under it, with Fr. Abcede himself and other confreres as witnesses. Fr. Descartin, who was accompanied by a good number of the faithful from his former Parish of St. Francis Xavier in Parang, Bagac, Bataan, will soon be joined by Rev. Jorem Bellen in administering to these new flock. May, through their ministries constantly blessed by God, vocations from this part of the Philippines flourish!
