Fr. General presides over the celebration of the Great Supplica

On the occasion of the Feast of the Holy Name of Jesus, Rev Fr Giorgio Nalin, RCJ, Superior General of the Rogationists of the Heart of Jesus presided over the celebration of the Great Supplica in Fr Di Francia Center of Studies which was attended by many confreres from various communities. Among the communities that participated in the celebration were Fr Hannibal Formation Center, Delegation House, Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Parish, St Hannibal Empowerment Center, and St Anthony’s Boys Village. Some members of the Union of Prayer for Vocations also joined on this moment of prayer.
The celebration of Supplica which is one of the most meaningful moments of the Rogationist prayer, has been practiced for more two hundred years ago as part of the spiritual industries of St Hannibal Mary Francia given to the entire Family of the Rogate. Every January 31, a day consecrated to the Solemn Feast of the Holy Name of Jesus, all Rogationist houses make memory of the all benefits received from God as well as humbly present special petitions to Him through the Name of Jesus. In the same way, it is a concrete expression of God’s perennial providence to the Rogationists like a “small caravan” journeying in the whole world which started from Avignone.

90th Birthday of Rev. Fr. Giuseppe Aveni

fr-aveni-inv.jpgThe Rogationist Seminary Community of Manila joyfully announces and invites you
to join us in thanking the Lord for the person of our dearest Father Master,
Fr. Giuseppe Aveni, as we celebrate his 90th Birthday,
this coming December 5, 2008.

All of us know that all throughout these years Fr. Aveni has always rendered
his unreserved and untiring service for the love of the Church and the
Congregation especially in accompanying many of us during our journey of
religious and priestly formation. Even up to now, though he maybe physically declining,
yet he has never stop in sustaining us with his prayers and sacrifices.

You may send your wishes and greetings to Fr. Aveni through his personal email
address: aveni@rcj.org
or through my email address: jessie@rcj.org.

ROGATIONIST SEMINARIAN-ARTISTS TO HOLD ART AUCTION

belen_ng_pilipino.jpgA stroke of the brush
dipped in red followed by quick swooshes of yellow tint. This was how Jervis Hidalgo started his
masterpiece.  Jervis intently draws,
making sure every stroke is precise and every color is vibrant. He takes in his
subject, thinks it over his head again and again and then finally decides that
yes, that element should be there.

Jervis is no painter
though. He is a seminarian at the Rogationist of the Heart of Jesus Seminary.
He is one of many seminarians who joined
“Paskong Pilipino: Love ko ‘to” an in-house pai
nting activity of the seminary.

Paintings by Jervis and all the other seminarian-artists of the Rogationists Seminary (Manila) are currently on view at Our Ladmay_pasko_pa_rin.jpgy of Beautiful Love Parish in

Washington St.
, MervillePark,
Paran
aque.   The works will be auctioned off on December 7
at
5pm at the Rogationist Seminary, 65 St. Hannibal St., MervillePark, Paranaque.

Christmas cards bearing the seminarian-artists designs are now available. Proceeds of the auction and the Christmas cards will be for the education fo the seminarians and the "Rogate Kids."

The Rogationist of the Heart of Jesus Seminary began in 1976 as an expansion mission by an Italian Congregation of Saint Hannibla Mary Di Francia, the Father of the Orphans and of the Poor, and the Apostle of Prayer for Vocations. The Congregation works to spread the message of the Rogate, or "the prayer to obtain good and holy workers for Jesus in the country".

gloria_ng_pasko.jpg

Today with over 80 seminarians, the Rogationist Seminary also performs ministry for poor kidds, through feeding programs and catechism. Many of the so-called "Rogate Kids" have become grown-ups and are responsible members of the society.

Its different apostolates compel the seminary to raise funds for its various programs, as well as for the education of its own seminarians.

Fr. Jessie Martirizar, Rector of the Seminary, appeals to the faithful to buy the paintings at the auction as well as the Christmas cards to help the Rogationists in their various ministries for the needy especially the little ones.

New Website on Vocation Discernment and Ministry – launched!

The Directors of Vocations in the Philippines held its 21st National Convention at the Metropolitan Cathedral Pastoral Center of the Archdiocese of Palo, Leyte from April 21-15, 2008. The Vocation Promoters of the Rogationists in the Rogationists’ Philippine Delegation, viz., Rev. Fr. Alex Poblador (Visayas and Mindanao)and Rev. Fr. Viktor Aurellana (Luzon) were among the 300 vocation Directors and Directress from all over the Philippines who attended this bi annual event. Rev. Fr. Rene Ramirez, in charge of the Social Communications Office of the Rogate Center, Manila took the opportunity to promote the website: VocationsOnline.Net – an online resource for vocations discernment and ministry.

The website aims to be the point of convergence of news and initiatives on vocations in Asia. It also aims to provide materials which may be useful for both Animators of vocations and discerners alike. The website contains more than 400 addresses of vocation promoters. It also contains downloadable prayer schemes and liturgical aids for vocations. Vocation Promoters and pastoral workers who are using generic e-mail services like Yahoo or Hotmail  may also avail of a 6-gigabyte e-mail space using the domain of the website. (For those interested, they may e-mail their proposed username to info@vocationsonline.net.)

Centering on the theme: My Vocation: My Light, My Love! Imaging the Person of the Vocation Minister, the convention offered the reflections to the Bishops, priests, consecrated sisters and brothers, lay men and women engaged in vocation ministry. The first conference was animated by Most Rev. Pablo Virgilio David, DD. who talked about the Word of God and Biblical Models of Vocation Ministers. Most Rev. Luis Antonio Tagle, DD pointed out the challenges on Situating Vocation Promotion in the Philippine Context. Rev. Fr. Roger Champoux, SJ shared his insights with his talk entitled, Igniting the Flame.
